“I am simply a 'book drunkard.' Books have the same irresistible temptation for me that liquor has for its devotee. I cannot withstand them.”
- L.M. Montgomery
Books have always been a big part of my life. I love books, and I love reading them. I collect old books, slightly yellow books, shiny new books; hardcover (especially), paperback, cloth-bound. A variety of different genres fill my bookshelves and I'll read anything at least once, though as I've grown older I have become slightly more picky with my choices. I can often tell right away whether or not I'll like a book, but very rarely do I give up on one. I also re-read a lot of books, and have a penchant for Classics. It took me a year to read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows; I didn't want the magic to end. My favourite literary character is Anne Shirley, and my favourite series is Lord of the Rings. I carry a book with me wherever I go and am constantly trying to get other people to read the ones I love.
Lately I've become too distracted by other things to read as often as I like, so this blog is my way of rectifying that.
On Sunday (sometimes Monday) I post "Off the Shelf" which will show the three books that I have added to my To-Be-Read pile that will hopefully be read and reviewed over the week. Each week I participate in "Top Ten Tuesday" hosted by the Broke and the Bookish, and "Waiting on Wednesday" hosted by Breaking the Spine.
